DRESSING FOR SUCCESS - should people be judged by their appearance? 8:48 PM

Personally, I feel that dressing appropriately for an important event such as an interview is vital. The first impression that you give others is highly significant and thus, giving your boss and colleagues an impression that you are untidy and disorganised is not preferred. The clothes that you wear says a lot about your character, taste and self discipline. Dressing what your job would require you to do so will help in your job. eg. looking professial and smart if you work in an office will allow you to earn trust from customers and superintendent, and earn respect from your subordinates.

Based on my research, it seems that good looking people get better jobs."If you are good looking, then you surely have an edge over any other average looking person, especially if the interviewer is of the opposite sex, revealed a study.According to a study, hiring practices are dramatically influenced by a bias towards attractive interviewees in terms of high and low status job packages offered. "

"When someone is viewed as attractive, they are often assumed to have a number of positive social traits and greater intelligence,"

However, skills and knowledge is also an important factor.Intelligence, knowledge and confidence would make someone beautiful even if he/she does not hold good looks.

An intelligent and thoughtful person would know that dressing up and looking good may affect his/her chance of getting a better job,and would try their best to look good. As compared to a person who does not even bother to dress up for an job interview, it just shows that they could not care less for the job and their character is not what would make up a good assistant. Therefore, i believe that people can be judged by their appearance to a certain extent in terms of character, attitude and confidence.
